Harold Shedd

Country Music Icon
Industry Executive, Producer

Harold Shedd is one of the most prolific and successful producers in Country Music history. With countless awards and some of the biggest sales ever by a producer, his behind-the-scenes presence launched and guided careers without seeking the spotlight.

With an unprecedented 21 consecutive number one hits, Shedd took the unknown group Alabama to the top of the charts. Shedd applied his Midas touch to other artists, as well. Although Reba McEntire had earned top 10 singles, it was not until her collaboration with Shedd that she earned her first gold album, for 1984’s My Kind of Country.

Shedd signed Billy Ray Cyrus whose album, Some Gave All, was the first debut album to enter the Billboard Country chart at #1, ultimately going multi-platinum and included the hit, “Achy-Breaky Heart”. Shedd signed Toby Keith who’s first single “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” reached #1, becoming the most played country song of the 90s. Since, Toby Keith has become one of the most successful musical artists, country or otherwise, of all time.

Harold also signed Shania Twain, whose debut album ultimately went platinum, launching the career of the all-time top-selling female country artist. Harold also produced albums for Glenn Campbell, Mel Tillis, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Kathy Mattea.
